Its superb resolution at high magnification brings forth a completely new world of extended range shooting for the accomplished marksman. The MOAR reticle has a floating centre crosshair. Providing an exact aiming point, it is two MOA wide and two MOA tall. With a 20 MOA scale below the centre, the MOAR reticle offers one-MOA elevation and windage spacing. Intrigued by the term crosshair I delved a bit deeper in my research. Later confirmed by my cousin, I found that earlier actual strands of hair were used in the interior of the scope housing. Later, at the time of the Vietnam war, wire was used instead of hair and solder was used on the wire to make the markings. With advancements in optical technology, manufacturers can etch any design on the glass and this is how we have the mil-dot scope.

The Nightforce 5.5 22x50 NXS Scope offers MLR™, MIL-DOT, MOAR™, MOAR-T™ reticles. Illumination of the reticule is standard. The illuminated reticle proves very helpful particularly at night. An illuminated reticule on a glass scope actually works better than looking into the green glow of a night vision scope. I came to know from the dealer whom I had visited that the Zero Stop technology, demonstrated in the NightForce 5.5-22x50mm NXS Tactical Scope, was designed at the request of Tier One US military forces. The Zero Stop technology allows you to return to your last count which you had reached at a particular elevation. This unique feature makes this scope different from other brands available in the market.
