Few sports stress the human body like soccer. Human beings spend about a third of their lives sleeping.  It is a critical time during which the body has a chance to slow down, rest, and nourish itself.  For athletes, the importance of sleep is even greater.  Athletes put a greater degree of daily stress on their bodies, and they require an even fuller and more beneficial resting period than do non-athletes.  It is important that athletes sleep in a manner that promotes healthy circulation, deep rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, and a steady nutrient flow throughout the night.  When these major elements of sleep are acquired, the athlete is able to wake feeling strong and able to perform at a level of peak performance.

For soccer players, the need for a good night's rest is critical.  Soccer players put a lot of stress on their legs throughout the duration of their games that typically last about ___.  The primary body systems that experience this stress are the muscular and skeletal systems.  In terms of muscle tissue, soccer players break down nearly every muscle from head to toe in a process called catabolism.  Catabolism draws nutrients from muscle tissues during intense aerobic exercise.  This leaves the muscle torn and broken.  Only rest, water, and proper nutrient delivery can repair muscles and prepare them for future physical activity.

The second system that receives stress is the skeletal system.  The skeletal system is comprised of bones, and it is connected to the muscular system through a network of tendons and ligaments.  Together, each of these interconnected pieces becomes incredibly worn-out during sports that require intense aerobic exercise, like soccer.

 Attaining a healthy level of sleep is the best way to help the body repair itself from the damage it accrues during sports.  An adjustable bed is the best way to attain such a healthy level of sleep, and this is a direct result of the ability of these adjustable bed frames to promote healthy circulation.  An adjustable bed is the only means of sleeping with the torso and legs elevated in a way that holds the body in a position of least resistance to gravity.  This position is called the "zero gravity" position.  In this position, the heart is better able to circulate oxygenated blood and nutrients to each of the extremities of the body.  From the brain to the toes, each muscle fiber is better able to receive critical amounts of oxygen and nutrients throughout the night because the body is position in the most stress-free position possible.  Adjustable beds cradle the body to facilitate the rapid dispersion of blood throughout the night.

When training to improve performance, all athletes must go to great lengths to ensure their bodies are recovering properly.  In this regard, athletes must consider the quality of sleep they receive and how it may be improved.  For athletes that need a superior level of sleep quality to enhance recovery, an adjustable bed frame is the best solution.
