Chelsea FC: A Bird In The Hand Is Worth Two In The Bush.

Are you a chelsea FC fan feverishly awaiting the arrival of Saturday, May 19th, 2012? Perhaps I shouldn't be asking. Even any novice who just decides to venture into palm reading as a profession, can confidently tell any Chelsea fan (without looking into his crystal ball,) that they have been having bouts of insomnia since their dramatic win against Barcelona, in their Champions League semi-final clash. A match that confirmed my resolute belief in the efficacy of resilience. Indeed, resilience has always been a virtue that never fails. I am quite aware that most soccer fans had absolutely written Chelsea off, as a result of the slim goal margin they secured in the first leg at Stamford Bridge, and perhaps the near invisibility of Barcelona at home. However, the match was one more lesson for us:"Don't count your chickens before they hatch."

The match at Allianz Arena will be tough. I love Bayern, and I am quite aware of what they can do while playing in Munich. But it will be unreasonable for Jupp Heynkes to underrate Chelsea. There is something about Chelsea at the moment,(I just can't put my finger on it,) but they have got "something" going for them. Call it luck, grace, or whatever you will; but it's there. That is what might make the difference on Saturday, May 19th, 2012. I am not writing Bayern off, but it is going to be very, very close!

On paper, Bayern are the favourites. I am sure most soccer fans will put their money on Bayern. That is quite understandable. At the moment, Chelsea does not have a world class team. They foolishly allowed Nikolas Anelka to leave, while procastinating on Didier Drogba's contract extension talks! Michael Essien has not found his old form, since he recovered from his injury; while Frank Lampard, is probably still having a "hang-over" over the departure of Anelka! To make matters worse, captain John Terry allowed his emotions to get the better of him in Barcelona. The consequence is that he will not be dressed in the Allianz Arena, for one of the most important games in Chelsea's history!

Now there are talks filtering in through the grapevine, that Roberto Di Matteo might be going into the game at the Allianz Arena as his last match in charge for Chelsea. If that is indeed true, then Roman Abramovich, is making a mistake he might live to regret. I am quite aware of the fact that, "he who pays the piper dictates the tune," but Di Matteo, deserves to be given a chance. He has definitely shown a lot of character since taking over from luckless, Andre Villas Boas. Someone needs to tell Roman Abramovich, that "Chelsea have had one manager too many since he took over the club." There has to be some consistency, and continuity at the Blues!
