Today, the 29-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most discussed football players. He is also the most controversial one as millions of fans love him, while others merely dislike him (and they do have the reasons for it).
Ronaldo started his career in Sporting CP where he played until 2003. Then he transferred to Manchester United (2003 – 2009); here he became a word class player. Ronaldo achieved quite a status at Man Utd, but in 2009 he transferred to Real Madrid. At that time, he was the biggest transfer ever (£80 million). Now, the most expensive transfer is Gareth Bale with £86 million (who, by the way, was also bought by Real).
Playing for Real, Ronaldo won many medals, he became the top goalscorer not once and broke the record as the fastest player. Yet, it wasn't always that smooth. Real Madrid has the reputation of a club which wants to have all the best players. Very often, they buy new stars at the expense of the other talented players who are already on the team.
The same happened this summer.
Real Madrid bought James Rodriguez, the top goalscorer at the 2014 World Cup, and Toni Kroos, the young and talented player of Bayern Munich. However, they lost Xabi Alonso who went to play for Bayern (a symbolic exchange with Kroos) and Angel Di Maria who didn't want to sit on a bench and transferred to Manchester United. Before that, Ozil left Real for Arsenal. The situation is that Ronaldo loses the strong players with whom he teamed up and scored plenty of goals. It makes sense that Ronaldo started thinking about returning to Manchester, which always was a great place for him. In one of the interviews Ronaldo told that he was treated amazingly there and he had only the positive memories about all those years played for Man Utd.
However, it will not happen. Ever. Both Real and Ronaldo's manager Jorge Mendes won't let him. In particular, Mendes told that the price for buying Ronaldo is €1 billion. In one of the recent interviews he told the following, "We will never find one like Ronaldo. It is true he is getting better and will continue to improve until he is 40. Cristiano has no limits. Besides being the best footballer in history, he is the greatest athlete of all time. There will be no one like him in the next 500 years." This shows the attitude towards the player and proves that there are no chances that Ronaldo returns to Manchester United.
Meanwhile, we can follow Ronaldo and his performance in the UEFA Champions League; so far, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are the main two teams to win the competition this year.
