NBA – LA Clippers defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder

It took a brilliant performance from Chris Paul and the Blake Griffin for the LA Clippers to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder and take a big win in the fight for the leadership of the Western Conference. At 16-4 for the season, the Oklahoma City Thunder hold the best record in the league, but the Clippers kept them from winning their fourth straight game. To get things really fired up, the Clippers relied on an amazing dunk by Blake Griffin over Kendrick Perkins, to really start things up for the Clippers.

The Clippers recorded their 12th win of the season and again proved that Paul and Griffin are certainly starting to find the right balance to push the squad strong. The duo was the main responsible of taking a 112-100 win over Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant was the best player for Oklahoma with 36 points and 13 rebounds. The Thunder is now going to have to keep on fighting strong this next hard stretch as they will have to play 5 games in 7 nights.

At the end, Griffin would steal the show. His power play over Perkins really gave the Clippers the needed momentum to dominate the game through the second half. Griffin finished with 22 points and as many kudos for that accelerating dunk that got the Clippers moving. But without a doubt, the Clippers were guided by Chris Paul and his 26 points and 14 assists through the game. At the end, the Clippers were able to make the best of the matchup between the Division leaders.

The talented Blake Griffin tried his best to be humble about the his spectacular dunk, but no matter how you approached it, we might have already seen the best dunk of the season. It's certainly the best dunk we have had so far this year. Even LeBron James of the Miami Heat recognized it on his twitter account. "Dunk of the Year!! @blakegriffin just dunked on Kendrick Perkins so hard!! Wow!! I guess I'm #2 now. Move over #6" wrote the Miami Heat forward LeBron James minutes later.

On the postgame conference, Griffin tried to be humble about his amazing play. "CP commands so much attention out there. He came off the pick-and-roll and he hit me in stride," Griffin said. Chris Paul continued with the lighter tone of things and later added: "I told Blake after the game, 'Thanks for letting me be part of that.'"

The lead that the Clippers took early in the game, was a bit too much to cut close down in the fourth quarter. Durant and Westbrook began the last quarter on the bench, but got back in the game when Deaquan Cook hit his second 3-pointer of the period to get the Thunder to 95-81. The Oklahoma City Thunder outscored Los Angeles 30-22 in the fourth quarter, but the truth is that they really never got close enough to make it a game. At the end, they couldn't get any close and lost by a dozen points on Monday Night.
