The fourth seeded Milwaukee Panthers will be entertaining the ninth-seeded Illinois – Chicago Flames at the U.S. Cellular Arena which is considered as the first round of the 2012 Horizon League Tournament, it kicks off tonight with expected action from these two teams.
UIC has gathered a rather lackluster season at 8-21 overall and 3-15 in Horizon League play, which included losses in six of their final seven games. Luckily for the Flames however, the Horizon League invites all 10 teams to take part in the tournament.
If they want to reign supreme then they better do something on the road as they have only won one game out of 15 this year.

Milwaukee Panthers
They had the third-best overall record of any team in the league at 19-12, and finished with a tie for third in the standings at 11-7 with both Detroit and Butler. The Milwaukee Panthers have lost a tie-breaker to Detroit for the No. 3 seed, but won one over Butler to gain the fourth-seed and a rather favorable matchup against UIC. They enter the tournament on a hot streak, winning four in a row to close the regular season.
Milwaukee has that advantage over UIC with 36-22 regarding an all-time series and they have won nine in a row over the Flames that includes a win over the Chicago last Thursday with 72-61.
Illinois-Chicago Flames
The UIC doesn't perform good enough on either offense which is at 61.1 ppg and defense with 67.8 ppg, and it connects on a league-low 39.7 percent of its field goal attempts and allows a league-high 45.4 percent shooting to its opponents. Their struggle seem to continue for the Flames in the season finale against Green Bay as they hit on just 22-of-60 total shots. The team don't have outstanding players but they get decent contributions from Gary Talton with 11.7 ppg and 3.3 apg and Daniel Barnes with 10.6 ppg and 2.2 three pointers per game.
