Eight years into the opening of Jersey Boys, and it is still filling the August Wilson Theater with theatergoers who want to go behind the music with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. After facing a rough couple of days, the men went on to fame with hits like "Big Girls Don't Cry" and " Can't Take My Eyes off You" powered by founding member Frankie Valli's soaring falsetto. And it's all laid out here documentary style. True fans know that hidden among the jukebox hits are songs that easily catch on and hence the fans go back to see the show again and again. These are few of the signs that you are a major fan of Jersey Boys.
You have tried to get the moves
The choreography of the group seems pretty simplistic when you are watching as an audience member. But when you try to copy those same moves at your house with a broomstick, you realize that the apparent simplicity is just a facade. Choreographer, Sergio Trujillo has worked his magic to make moves that are simplistic yet complex to do. The side steps, hip sways, spins and snaps are all time classic that work in all their classic songs.
You can sing "Oh, What a Night" in French
As any true-blue boys fan knows, the show always opens with one of the group's biggest hit songs, "Oh, What A Night". But the thing that is different about this show is that it's a complete different rendition than the original. They sing and rap it in French, after the song had been translated and transformed by a singer/rapper from France in 2000.
You have tried to hit the high notes and you have failed
The show is full of the numerous falsettos, courtesy of the actor playing Frankie Valli. One of the many reasons why he won a Tony award back in 2006 itself. The raft-raising notes in "Walk Like a Man" and "Big Girls Don't Cry", left audiences spellbound with its accuracy and precision. And, at the end of the show, the group is able to hit a spectacular high note in the final moments of "Who Loves You" that went high up the stratosphere. These vocal pyrotechnics are the reason that fans are drawn towards there shows again and again, every time they perform.
You don't gasp when Joe Pesci shows up
The Joe Pesci, from the actor from the Raging Bull and the Goodfellas is a character in the Jersey Boys. But that isn't surprising to you at all. Before he become all big and famous, he was just a guy from Jersey streets. He happened to know the then struggling members of the group and suggested that his friend Bob Gaudio join as the fourth. So, when the one sitting near you gasp when they see him walking up on the stage, you just let out a chuckle because you already knew what was coming.
