A Quick Look at Baseball – National Game of USA

Baseball is an interesting sport that is very similar to cricket and is played by 160 united countries. The game is very popular in East Asia and parts of the North America. In spite of this fact, this particular game is the quintessential North American sport. Like most of the games, baseball is also played by two teams having nine players on each side. Like cricket one team has to pitch the ball and the other tries to hit it with a wooden stick. There is a pitcher in the middle, who initiates the action by throwing the ball toward home plate. The catcher is right behind the hitter and he catches the ball if it's not hit. The infielders are the first baseman, second baseman, shortstop which is between second and third base and the third baseman. There are three outfielders: the left fielder, center fielder and right fielder.

The play begins with a batter waiting to hit a pitch from the pitcher. If the batter hits the ball into the field of play, the batter runs to first base and can run to as many bases as he or she deems fit without getting out. Each batter gets three strikes; it can be a swing, a miss and a ball over the plate, which is within the strike zone by the umpire. If there are four balls and the pitch that is not in the strike zone, the batter gets a chance and is automatically allowed to go to first base. The batter hits the ball and runs to the base where he is considered safe and the next batter comes to the position to hit.

The defensive players attempt to prevent this by putting the runners out using the ball; runners put out must leave the field. So as the batter runs and the next batter come in line to hit, the runners must complete a circuit of a diamond before there are three outs in the inning. If the If a player hits the ball over the outfield fence in fair territory that's between the foul lines, it's a home run, and the batter can circle all four bases.

Today, there are a lot of baseball teams in USA. Each of these teams has very young talented players whose performance is really strong. Some of the great national teams are Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, Florida Marlins, Chicago Clubs, Washington Nationals, and Houston Astros. Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Indians are some of the teams from the American League. The following are some of the teams from the National League. The Atlanta Braves is a major league baseball team which has been playing since 1966. The team mainly comes from the eastern division of the National League.

Another baseball league team is the Florida Marlins based in Miami, Florida and is also from the eastern national league. The team that comes from the central division national league is the Houston Astros based in Houston Texas. The Colorado Rockies are based at Coors Field in Denver. These players have a lot of potential as it the only team that comes from a rocky mountainous region. The San Francisco Giants are based at AT&T Park in Houston. This is a place below the San Francisco Bay and extends all the way through from Oregon to the Seattle Mariners country.

Among all the above teams, Atlanta Braves is my favorite and I always watch their either live or sometimes I get to watch on my TV connected to the Dish TV. My second favorite is Houston Astros and I love the energy and zeal the team carries.
