The certified Power Brigade Series is Easton sporting goods' latest line of baseball bats. It is further divided in two: the Speed Series and the XL Series, with each series showcasing three models. The models for the Speed Series are named simply as S1, S2 and S3, while those from the XL Series are called XL1, XL2 and XL 3. The name Easton is prominently displayed in two areas of the bat, with the model name scaled down somewhere close to the handle. This logo/name placement is starkly different from what was done in the forerunner series of the bats, namely the Omen, Surge and Rival. The names of each series in the older bats were equally prominently displayed as the company's in two areas. The new logo/name placement is meant to emphasize the Easton's name, instead of the bats'.
Easton sporting goods' Power Brigade Series six-bat set-up aims to create bats for almost all kinds of hitters. The Speed Series, as the name suggests, is designed to increase batting speed, while at the same time adding more pop to the swing. The XL series, having a more abrupt tapering and a wider and extra long barrel is more for the power hitters. Both series come in the youth, senior league and adult sizes.
S1 and XL1
These two top-of-the-line models are described as similar to the previous Omen series. The bats feature a two-piece all-composite bat that is separated by Easton's patented ConneXion technology. Easton used its IMX or Integrated Matrix composite technology to construct the handles and barrels, giving the bats a lighter feel.
The patented ConnXion hinge piece connects the handle to the barrel and is built to make energy transfer more efficient while eliminating the vibration. The SIC handle, or the Solid Impact Construction, with its black carbon wrapping, even further reduces vibration and sting..
S1 is very balanced and has one of the lowest MOI's in the market to date, offering hitters supreme speed and comfort. XL1 has a similar lightness due to being made with the same materials as S1, with, however, a much larger sweet spot and an expanded hitting zone.
S2 and XL2
S2 and XL2 feature almost exactly the same materials and construction as S1 and XL1. They come built in with Easton's three patented technologies—the ConneXion hinge piece, the SIC handle and the IMX composite on the handles. The two pairs are also BBCOR-certified. The difference is that S2 and XL2's barrels are built with the THT100 Scandium Alloy, adding durability to the lightness of the IMX composite technology.
Similar to the differences between S1 and XL1, S2 offers greater speed and balanced while XL2 gives that extra control and strength that power hitters are looking for.
With composite handles and alloy barrels this pair combines speed and a light feel with robustness to withstand much more swings.
S3 and XL3
Unlike the previous two pairs, the S3 and XL3 are one-piece bats that are built only with the THT100 Scandium Alloy. The S3 is BBCOR-certified, while the XL3 is USSSA-certified. The one-piece construction and the alloy material make the two extremely durable, but still retain a relatively low MOI due to their more streamlined barrels.
It is the more traditional stiff feel and heightened sturdiness that set the S3 and XL3 apart.
Recognized as a long-time manufacturer of quality bats, Easton sporting goods also comprise other baseball and softball equipment, such as balls, mitts, training gear and cleats.
