Where does Montana get its energy from?

Coal: Montana is the fourth largest coal-producing state in the United States. Coal accounts for about 55% of the state's total energy production. Most of Montana's coal is used to generate electricity, but some is also used for industrial purposes.

Natural gas: Natural gas is the second largest energy source in Montana, accounting for about 25% of the state's total energy production. Natural gas is used for a variety of purposes, including heating homes and businesses, generating electricity, and powering vehicles.

Hydropower: Hydropower is the third largest energy source in Montana, accounting for about 15% of the state's total energy production. Montana has several large hydroelectric dams, including the Hungry Horse Dam, which is the tallest dam in the United States. Hydropower is a renewable energy source that does not produce greenhouse gas emissions.

Renewable energy: Renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, are becoming increasingly important in Montana. The state has a number of solar and wind farms, and it is estimated that renewable energy could account for up to 20% of Montana's total energy production by 2030.

Nuclear power: There are no nuclear power plants in Montana. However, the state does have a uranium mine, and uranium is used to fuel nuclear power plants in other states.
