In this day and age of hip hop and hip hop clothing many things are becoming fashionable that just should never be fashionable. Hiking boots are not a fashion statement yet, in hip hop, they are considered essential gear. Hiking boots are hiking boots and they are made for hiking in the wilderness. Hiking boots are not designed to offer you maximum speed as you are running from the scene of the crime. They are heavy, thick, and waterproof which means they were designed to protect you from the elements and allow you proper traction while climbing rocks and cruising along the trails in the great outdoors. They were not designed to climb fences and duck down alleys.

Hiking boots are durable boots worn while hiking through the forests and wilderness of the great outdoors. They are waterproof so that your feet do not get wet while you are jumping through streams or trying to cross a lake to get away from a bear. They are durable so that they can protect you from the rocks and branches that you will inevitably come across while you are out there hiking. So hiking boots are designed for the rugged exploration of the great outdoors and not the exploration of the driver’s side of an Escalade. Wearing hiking boots in the city is like wearing a clown costume to prison, it makes no sense at all and it is bound to get you in big trouble when the novelty wears off.

Many people mistake hiking boots for winter boots and, while hiking boots are insulated and can definitely protect your feet from the cold and snow, wearing hiking boots as winter boots is definitely overkill for you and just plain embarrassing for the boots. Do yourself and the boots a favor and invest in a proper pair of winter boots for the winter weather and leave the heavy duty boots for the trails and hillsides of the trails.

Hiking boots are also not work boots that need to be worn at the work site. Don’t be cheap, go out and buy a pair of work boots instead of asking your other boots to pull double duty. Footwear is designed for a purpose and it functions best when it is used for that purpose. Boots worn for a fashion statement should be fashionable boots and not big brawling boots designed for the outdoors and designed to brave the elements.
