Everybody uses drills to improve their technique. However, what specific drill you use is directly influenced by you current skill level. As a beginner you need to concentrate on drills that sharpen your technique. The most popular drills for starters are:
1.Getting rid of the shank
2.Cleaning up your wrist breaks.
Here are the golf tips and drills for getting rid of the wrist break: A flipping wrist is a common problem among beginner and even more advanced golfers.
Here's the drill to fix this:
1.Put a wristwatch on and use it as a visual marker.
2.When you are approaching impact with the ball, the leading arm needs to have the face of the watch pointing towards the target line
3.Now try to rotate the face of the watch to make it point towards the ground. When you are holding the club, it will make the trailing forearm and wrist flip over the top of the leading forearm and wrist.
This will also help add a little distance in your shots so practice it full heartedly. Here are the golf tips and drills for getting rid of the shank:
What causes the shank? It's caused by making contact with the hosel of the club instead of the golf club. This can be caused if you stand to close to the ball when swinging or if you shift weight forward towards the left foot before impact.
How to fix this:
1.Make sure you set up evenly. When holding the club, check to make sure there is just over a fists' length of space between the end of the grip and your body.
2.Use the shaft as the practicing tool. Hold the shaft 3 inches in front of your leading foot and than move it back 3 inches.
3.Approximate the distance between the body and the grip to one fist.
4.Now try a few practice swings. Check and make sure your left hip brushes against the shaft.
Practice this repeatedly and in no time you will see technique improve. The shank will be gone before you know it, just remember, it takes perseverance to improve your game. Do not expect to get incredibly good over night, because it will not happen. Instead try to live the joy of being a little better each day.
