I've now been attending the Austrtalian golf open for the past three years religiously and I can honestly say that it has been an excellent experience. Considering it's golf, I believe it's a pretty thrilling event and I must say I've seen a change during the last 3 years.
Last 12 months was definitely a watch opener as I bumped into life-long associates who've probably by no means picked up a golf membership of their complete life - Yes you heard me proper! What was the rationale they had been there??? Tiger Woods . It was Australia's greatest golf year in 20 years last yr with the Presidents Cup also being performed in Australia and biy did now we have some large names down right here - David Tomms, Tiger Woods, Ian Poulter, Luke Donald and some other massive names.
So back to the Australian Open. For the last couple of years it's been held at the lakes in Mascot and earlier than that was at New South Wales Golf Club in La Perouse. The crowds at a lot of the opens are fairly big because it's the only large tournament played in Sydney each year. It's mostly peaceful as there's all the time a heavy police and security presence. One factor that I must mention is you at all times tend to stumble upon celebrities close to the clubhouse and the Professional AMs are an enormous hit. You get to be up and near most of the massive title golfers because of the lack of crowds on those days.
Merchandise: Not much good things on the market as its primarily dominated by companies like Sporte Leisure who pay huge money to have promoting rights of caps, shirts, pants etc.
Refreshments/Food: I discovered this very reasonable high quality and worth based on numerous outdoor events in Sydney . You can buy water, mushy drinks, coffees all for below $three and a superb feed for round $5.
What they could do better: Be extra welcoming to company, have guides around the place you possibly can ask the place something is? Have cell carts or mini shops across the course to grab water or smooth drinks because the climate is normally blistering hot.
Leisure: I do know its golf however hey we are effectively and really in the 20th century and people simply need extra bang for their buck. Have some buskers close to the clubhouse. Get some competitions going near the clubhouse. Get a lounge suite close to the 18th for two lucky punters..Give a pair golfers Membership privileges for two days..Come on Australia Golf -be creative, Bee totally different that is how you create publicity. Spending $2 million dollars plus for Tiger is not the one strategy to get a mention in the local paper, or tv in the event you're lucky!
