- Steering cable installation kit (includes cable, connectors, nuts, and bolts)

- Adjustable wrench

- Pliers

- Utility knife

- Flashlight

Safety Precautions:

- Disconnect battery before starting the repair.

- Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.

Step 1: Disconnect the Battery

- Disconnect the battery's negative terminal to avoid any electrical accidents.

Step 2: Remove Steering Wheel and Cowling

- Remove the steering wheel by unscrewing the steering wheel nut and pulling it off the steering shaft.

- Remove the cowling covering the engine.

Step 3: Disconnect the Steering Cable

- Use the steering cable removal kit to disconnect the steering cable from the steering rack and the engine.

- Loosen the bolts that secure the upper end of the cable to the steering bracket and remove the cable.

Step 4: Remove Old Steering Cable

- Slide the old steering cable out from the steering tube and remove it entirely from the boat.

Step 5: Install the New Steering Cable

- Feed the new steering cable through the steering tube.

- Attach the upper end of the cable to the steering bracket using the bolts and nuts provided in the installation kit.

- Hand-tighten the nuts, but don't fully tighten them yet.

Step 6: Attach Cable to Steering Rack and Engine

- Attach the lower end of the cable to the steering rack and the engine using the connectors from the installation kit.

- Tighten all of the bolts and nuts securely.

Step 7: Reinstall Cowling and Steering Wheel

- Reinstall the cowling covering the engine.

- Reinstall the steering wheel and tighten the steering wheel nut.

Step 8: Test the Steering

- Reconnect the battery.

- Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock to check that the steering is smooth and responsive.

Step 9: Finalize the Installation

- If everything works properly, tighten all of the bolts and nuts that you loosened during the installation.

- Check the steering cable connection to ensure it's secure.

Your new steering cable is now installed, and your outboard motor should be ready for use.
