Mizuno MP-58 Irons' Review

This time, I want to introduce the new Mizuno MP-58 irons with revolutionary Dual Muscle Technology. It combines the workability of a traditional muscleback with the forgiveness of multi material construction.

 

During the complex Grain Flow Forging process, a high-tech Titanium metal is forged into the outer muscle of the iron, which not only delivers the feel, workability and shape every MP player desires, but also takes playability in an MP iron to a whole new technological level. The light weight characteristics of the pure Titanium utilized in the MP-58s allow for an ideal amount of thickness behind the impact area to ensure the legendary soft, solid and consistent feel one expects from a Mizuno iron, while simultaneously providing a dramatic increase in perimeter weighting for enhanced playability.

 

The MP-58 irons achieve the rare combination of a penetrating ball flight, increased MOI, and superior feel, all in the ultimate player's head shape. Like all Mizuno forgings, the MP-58's are Grain Flow Forged from "Pure Select" carbon steel. Here, however, 11 grams of titanium is pressed into the head to create an outer muscle that significantly improves forgiveness on off-center hits. In other words, these slick-looking irons are designed to provide the feel and playability of traditional Mizuno blades with added game-enhancing characteristics. The pleasing impact sound is the result of Mizuno's "modal analysis" technology.

 

All in all, the new MP-58 irons were designed to combine the forgiveness of a full cavity back with the workability, feel and compact size of a classic muscleback.  Upon first glance these are just a beautiful set of irons. Everything about them is top notch.
