Ryder Cup: Seve most popular...ever!

Seve Ballesteros is the most popular Ryder Cup golfer, voted by UK golf fans, ahead of Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie.

 

The Spanish legend played for Europe in a total of nine Ryder Cups from 1979 – 1995 and was voted by 32% of respondents as their favourite while Nick Faldo earned 25% and 2010 European captain Colin Montgomerie 14%. Around 1,000 UK golf fans surveyed also identified Spain (60%) as the country with the strongest Ryder Cup heritage out of all the bidding nations for the 2018 Ryder Cup - ahead of Portugal (12%) and France (9%) and Spain was also the preferred destination to host the 2018 event (37%), ahead of closest rivals Portugal (23%).

 

Ballesteros, who is recovering from brain surgery is patron of the Ryder Cup Madrid 2018 bid and commented:  "Honma BERES MG802 Iron Set  is humbling for me to see the support I have from golf fans in the United Kingdom and a great honour to be chosen as their favourite Ryder Cup player.
