In a normal day of golfing I see many people who are just
whacking the ball wildly around the course, or on the driving
range. If this is you then it will be very difficult for you to
get any better as you aren抰 practicing correctly. The first step
obviously is to correct your golf swing and make sure you are
using good form.
If you have attempted to teach yourself to golf without
any guidance you may want to reconsider, and begin looking
through books, or for a coach. The first step to having a good
swing is to make sure that you have a neutral grip on the club.
If your grip is not neutral this will make the ball spin one
direction or another which will make it very difficult to have
any sort of consistency in your shot.
The second step is to make sure that your body is squarely
aligned to your target. If your body is not aligned with your
target then you will miss your target more often than not. If you
aren抰 missing the target there is another flaw within your
swing.
Once you have learned a new swing from a coach or book the
best step is to practice in front of a mirror. This will allow
you to re-enforce your new golf swing, which will allow you to
repeat the same swing on the course without you having to think
about it.
Your swing should become second nature to you, and you
should not have to think about it while playing on the course.
