Golf Courses Around The World III

We have been to Scotland and then went across the big pond and looked at three golf courses in the picturesque Hawaii. I think it is only fitting as the number one player in the world Rory McIlroy is from Ireland we look at a few courses from Ireland.

Adare Golf Club

The first nine is accompanied by a 14-acre lake among the beautiful mature trees. The back nine has the River Maique running through the landscape. The scenery at the Adare Golf Club sounds breath taking, and I can only imagine it is.

This 18 hole championship course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior and was opened in 1995. Lee Westwood shot a 64 in 2008 at the Irish Open, on this course that stands as a course record.

Hollywood Golf Club

The number one player in the world is one of the most famous PGA Tour professionals to come from the Hollywood Golf Club.

This course is laid out a bit different from most in that the first nine are forgiving in many ways. The front nine was designed with the average golfer in mind, forgiving, but with its own little twists and turns, enough to make it good golf.

For the more daring and skilled players the back nine is where the challenge starts. The back nine will give the seasoned golfer a challenge repeatedly, I would like to try this and see for myself, one day.

When asked about Hollywood Rory said that the course helped him in the beginning to becoming the golfer he is today.

The Hollywood Golf Club is located at Nuns Walk, Demesne Road, Hollywood County Downe, Northern Ireland. Royal Portrush Golf Club

Two golf courses are present at Royal Portrush the Dunluce Links and the Valley Links. The Valley is an 18-hole course designed by Harry Colt. This is a 6,304 yard par 70 with surprise holes and par 4’s this course will challenge any player.

Golf Magazine as 12th best course in the world rates the Dunluce Links. The North Atlantic will blow up the winds and challenge the best of golfers never mind the punishing greens and the 411-yard par four at the 5th hole is famous, you will see for yourself, I am not going to ruin it for you.

The Royal Portrush Golf Club is located at Dunluce Road, Portrush, County Antrim the club, welcomes visitors, and has memberships. The fees are £135.00 weekdays and £150.00 on the weekends. To book tee times take a look at the website as there are day and time restrictions for visitors.
