Golf Tips For New Golfers

Golf Tips for New Golfers

Learning how to play golf as a beginner can be very hard at times. It takes hours of practice and a lot of patience. It is definitely something you cannot learn by playing a video game. If you are one of those persons that have spent hours and hours playing Nintendo’s Wii Sports, this may come as a crushing blow. But the reality is that you are never going to improve you golf game by playing these type of games.

You really need to pay close attention to the exact rules and form if you want to improve your game. It is sometimes very complicated trying to learn how to play golf in real life.

New golfers have a habit of making a lot of mistakes when they first try to learn how to play. That is why it is a good idea to learn from a golf instructor. When you learn from a golf instructor, you will be able to overcome some of the mistakes that beginner golfers make. This will help improve your chances of playing a good round of golf and make it very satisfying when you walk away from the last green.

Looking up is one of the biggest mistakes that new golfers make when they are trying to hit the ball. When you look up you could very well miss the ball entirely and then you have to count a stroke against your score even though you did not make contact with the ball. If you do this several times a round you can imagine how bad your score will be. So you can see how important it is that you keep your head down until you make contact with the ball.

One way to help you stay down is by properly rotating your hips through impact. If you are not sure how to do this, talk with you instructor and they can give you some tips on how to do it. Another technique that has been known to help new golfers stay down is fully extending your arms throughout your swing. A good drill to help you stay down is counting to five after you make contact before you lift you head. This will create a good pace to your swing and keep you from looking up too quickly.

Another problem new golfers have is hitting the ball straight. It seems like every time they hit a shot, it goes either left or right, but never straight. Now you make thing that this is a problem that could be very hard to correct. It is actually pretty simple to correct, but you do need to be patience to overcome it. The biggest reason for not hitting the ball straight has to do with your stance. If you are not standing correctly when lining up you shot, there is no way you hit a good shot, even if you make the greatest swing of your life.

So before every shot take some time to make sure that you are lined up to your target and that face of the club is square at impact. If the club is not square at impact you will be more likely to hit the ball on the side of the club face instead of the middle of the club face. When you hit the ball on the side of the club face the flight of the ball will more likely go either left or right the majority of the time. So if you practice keeping your club face square at impact you will see the ball come off straighter and you will start hitting more greens.

Hooking the ball is another problem that beginner golfer struggle with. Hooking the ball can be very difficult to correct, because there several different things that can cause you to hook. Once again your stance can play a big part in hooking the ball. If you not line up correctly you can it hit the ball straight. Also, if you are gripping you club the wrong way or too tight you will hook the ball. If you practice taking the proper stance and work on you grip, you see less hooking of the ball.

The last problem new golfers have is making putts. One reason this happens is that beginner golfers do not stand directly over the ball. When you go into your putting stance be sure that you are looking down at the top of the ball. If you are not looking down at the top of the ball you will be more likely to miss hit putts, causing them to go offline. When you are standing directly over the top of the ball you will see you line better and you will have a greater chance of making the putt.

These are just a few tips that can help new golfers improve their game. If you practice these tips over and over you should see improvement in your game. You can also look into taking lessons form a golf instructor. The problem with this is that it can get expensive and take up a lot of you time. If you don’t have the time or money to work a golf instructor another alternative would be a golf learning package. These are usually less expensive and allow you to work on your game on your time frame.
