Here we are again, looking at golf courses around the corner for some and a million miles away for others. This time I thought it would be interesting to look into Switzerland’s golf courses. Just happen, the first one I picked is a class one golf course.
Golf Club – Domain Imperial
The property that this course is made up of has a history going all the way back to the 17th and 18th century. Changing hands many times throughout the years, the land started the transformation into a Pete Dye designed golf course with ground being broke in 1985. The club was in construction for three years opening the doors in 1988.
This 18 hole golf course is considered first class along with the facilities and staff. The course has four par 5’s along with a mix of par threes and par fours. The total yardage is 5023 and is a par 72 for the full 18 holes. Giving challenges throughout the course that keep coming back to haunt even the best of players.
The Golf Club – Domain Imperial is located in Villa Prangins, 1196 Gland, Switzerland a private club with visitors welcome on certain days, web site did not have a translation page for this. The best I could understand is the green fees are FR. 200, and of course, there are restrictions for visitors.
If you are wanting to experience one of Switzerland’s finest golf course look up Domain Imperial on the internet or give them a call at +4122 999 0 606 or fax at +4122 999 0 600 and have fun.
The scenery must be fabulous the majestic mountains peering down on all us golfers and we staring back in aghhhh…
Golf Club Vulpera
This clubs conception was back in the early 1920’s and through the years, it sure has gone through changes and made it through WW II. The course has had golf architect Donald Harradine put his signature on the design and making this 9 hole course more challenging than most.
This golf course is situated in the most beautiful backdrop you have ever seen the alpine mountains are magnificent. You could take hours to play on this course, as the scenery will take you away to other places if you let it, hypnotizing.
This 9 hole course will add challenges, I guess you only know if you play the course or know someone that has. Makes you want to go just to try it out or maybe it is just Switzerland not sure, what a place.
The Golf Club Vulpera is located 7552 Vulpera, Switzerland, phone number +41 (0) 81 864 96 88 you have a fine clubhouse to socialize in, they have memberships and the public is welcome to arrange for tee times. Best to call or check their web site and arrange tee times average price is CHF80 for a day and CHF 50 for one round.
Good luck in Switzerland if that’s where you are headed; there are many fine courses in Switzerland these are but two lonely courses, for now, more to come. Have a favourite course, one near your town or your favourite course in Switzerland, let us all know, don’t keep it to yourself…
