How Online Golfing Gear Reviews Helped My Love Of The Game
When a chum of mine introduced me to golf many years ago, I wasn't very impressed and asked him what he saw in the game. He narrated, Well, golf means different things to different folks. To me, it's usually about being away from my busy life for 1 or 2 hours, being one with nature, and chatting to some good pals. That looked reasonable to me, but I quickly found out what he meant as I modified into a golfer, too, taking instruction and burying myself in golf gear reviews.
Folks do take up golfing for several different reasons and it means something else to nearly every player. For some, like my mate, it's relaxing on a stunning course and enjoying nature and the views. To others it's the best way to meet with clients and close deals. Some just enjoy an occasional round. Others get hooked and pursue mastery of the game with single-minded keenness. But regardless of what draws you to the game of golfing, we all have something in common : we need apparatus. A lot of it.
Initially I had a real difficulty with that. Golfing shops threatened me. I didn't really know about clubs, golf shoes or perhaps golf bags and I was embarrassed about my lack of info. Whenever I went to a pro shop, everyone else seemed to be an expert, knowing everything about golf, except me. I didn't understand half of what sales folks were speaking about and I didn't even understand heaps of their questions. So I felt they were talking down to me and I resented that.
So I started reading golfing books and mags and asked golf chums for advice. I ended up with a good set of clubs, discovered that some balls worked better for me than others ( I am definitely a Titleist man ), and spent a tasty sum on golfing equipment ( Nike made a tasty sum off me ) I did or didn't need. Truth be told, my absence of data and my being unwell comfortable with the sales folks in the pro shops possibly kept me from enjoying the game as much as I should have. All of this changed during the past couple of years.
I am a Web person. To me, finding correct and unprejudiced golf kit reviews online was just what I had been waiting for. I am not talking about just online golf stores or golf bulletin-boards. What helped me were sites done by golfing fans who simply wanted to share their info with others.
See, while I used to be conscious of the likes of Burton or Ogio or Ping, there was not anyone that told me who actually made the best bag for me.
I was told some of the training aids out there actually worked while others were a waste of cash but I didn't know which was which. I knew of amazing advances in golf carts and I had even heard about new technologies like golf gps, but I didn't know what was valuable data and what was just selling.
For me, the upward push of golf fan sites with golf gear reviews made all the difference. I like reading reviews written by real people vs just sales spiels, and I like how some of those sites explain it all in terms which sound correct.
I like to read and learn, and these days I fully depend on golfing sites that aren't only entertaining, but also provide me with the reviews I need and even suggestions on where to get the greatest deals.
