Like a lot of golf players, I'm always searching for methods to improve my short game. Probably the most critical aspect of your game other than putting, having a strong short game will save you strokes throughout the course of a round of golf.

A number of golfers only include two clubs in their bag that are typically used for golf shots in one hundred yards, the pitching wedge and sand wedge.
If you watch golf on TV you'll witness that a number of professionals include three or even four wedges inside their bag. Nearly every pro golfer on tour has added a gap wedge or a lob wedge to their arsenal. They recognize the value in having several lofted wedges available for different situations during a round. Having multiple wedges gives them extra flexibility and makes it easier to scramble to save par.
If you haven't alternated your club selection to include 3 wedges within your bag, you should consider adding one and eliminating your 3 iron.
Bearing in mind the importance of your shots in 100 yards, reason would suggest you turn your attention on this portion of your game. Why is it then that amateurs spend the majority of their time practicing shots with their driver?
Here are some golf swing drills that can assist you with decreasing your golf score.
* Practice hitting your wedges from three different backswing positions.
* Determine the distance you can hit all of your wedges from 7 o'clock, 9 o'clock and 10:30.
* Take note of the distances that each shot travels using these 3 backswings.
* Practice every distance and really focus on getting your shots in 20 feet. Then practice working to get your golf shots inside 10 feet. Finally focus on getting your shots inside of 5 feet.
The more time you invest in practicing these golf short game drills, the more pressure you will take off the rest of your game, including you're putting.
Good golf players spend a lot of time practicing golf short game drills. It just makes sense for you to do the same. This portion of your golf game is so significant to lowering your score that there are training centers specifically for the short game.
