Avoiding Easy Golf Mistakes
Becoming a professional golfer is absolutely no easy task, but practicing and learning how to not make the easy mistakes that a lot of golfers make can help you create a great swing. Having a bag golf swing does not necessarily make you a bag golfer, you can correct your swing and become great. Below I will discuss some easy things to think about when you are practicing to help prevent you from making simple mistakes.
First off is your stance, this is more important than most beginner golfers recognize. Once you go from a bad stance to a great stance you will immediately see the results and start hitting the ball much better and more comfortably. A lot of golfers do not put enough attention into their stance and this is mistake number one. A great set up will help lead to a great swing. You need to find the perfect stance for you and to stick with it, keeping the same exact stance for every swing will help you create a consistent swing. Do not just walk up to the ball and swing, this will lead to you to be a very inconsistent golfer. Using a mirror is a great way to master your golf stance. Your arms need to hang down not out and you knees should be slightly bent shoulder width apart. Being comfortable is the most important thing here.
Another easy mistake that people have is bad posture. You need to make sure your back is straight, and your head is up with your eyes fixated on the ball. Slouching over the ball is going to create a terrible swing. Bend at your hips slightly and keep your back straight. So practice in the mirror keeping your balance and posture correct.
The third easy mistake is what is called the chicken wing. This is when your wrist and your arm are going limp as you are striking the ball. Make sure to keep your arms and wrist tight with a firm grip on your club, your arms should be fully extended at this point. This will help generate your maximum power. To avoid this you need to stand the correct distance from the ball, if you are too close your arms will bend.
Your follow through is the last easy mistake that I will talk about. Do not stop your swing after striking the ball, you need to swing all the way through the ball and finish in a nice balanced position with your weight on your front foot. You should be able to hold this position until your ball lands, if you can not do this then you are swinging too hard or are not balanced through your swing. Balance is one of the most important parts of a golf swing. Practice your swing without hitting a ball and see how long you can hold your follow through position, the longer you can hold it, the most balanced and smooth your swing is. I hope this article help you avoid some easy mistakes that golfers make.
