Bubba Watson: The Latest Golfer to Win The Masters
Have you heard of Bubba Watson? The man originally from Florida with the southern accent who can be viewed with no shirt, barefoot and simply wearing dungarees in the "golf boys" viral video. The guy who bought the "General Lee" from the 1970s hit show Dukes of Hazzard. The golfer with the pink driver, who can hit a ball farther than anyone else on tour. Or the golfer with the resourcefulness and skill to smash a hook shot off the pine straw and below some trees and make it to the green! The guy who was quoted that the shot was "pretty easy!" The man who never taken a single golf lesson and is famous for saying "if I have a swing, I have a shot, and I hit the shot I see in my head."
Currently Watson's the latest golfer to win the Masters golf tournament in Augusta. Bubba remarked that he was a little scared at each swing, approach and putt on that last round and during the entire playoff. But when Watson was strolling up to his ball somewhere in the wooded area, he was certain he could make it, and he took his swing. He knew the other golfer wasn't on the green yet, but decided not to play it safe anyway. Watson won the tournament in his own way with what is being called "Bubba golf." And Bubba received his honor also on his own terms, with modesty, great emotion, and gratitude to all of his friends, families, and even his locker room attendants. Bubba has big plans for his accomplishments.
In the words of Watson, it is "the stuff off the golf course" that makes everything worthwhile. With his notoriety now secured in history and his brand new green jacket, it appears that he almost views his accomplishment as merely a way to meet his real goals. Watson has a love for helping kids. At the tournament he wore only white clothing to raise knowledge for little ones born with problems who require reconstructive surgery. He hosts two junior golf tournaments in the hope to persuade kids to learn the sport of golf and influence them on and off the course. Since Bubba has has enjoyed golf all his life and done quite well, he now can and will look to do good around the globe, that are completely separate from his golfing career.
Watson's most recent achievement that gives him more pride than all the others? The adoption of his one month old little boy, Caleb.
