There are over 170 places to play golf in Phoenix and nearby Scottsdale and more than 329 days of sunshine on which to enjoy our favorite pastime. Phoenix boasts courses designed by all of the masters, and it will be difficult to choose among the offerings. There is a wide range in costs, and a single course will cost you between $75 and $300. We will feature several places to play golf in Phoenix on this and other pages on this site to help you through the process.
Our first featured place to play golf in Phoenix is the Graham/Panks designed Raven Golf Club at South Mountain. This premier golf in Phoenix destination offers rolling fairways surrounded by thousands of mature trees and scenic vistas that will make even the worst hit shot seem less horrible. This famed resort course runs over 7,000 yards long and offers a challenge for every level of play. Prices for 18 holes with a GPS and misting system equipped cart, practice balls, tees, ball markers, and personalized bag tag range from a super twilight low of around $60, to an in-season weekend high closer to $200. Most call this a "must play" course in Phoenix.
Our next choice is the spectacular We-Ko-Pa Golf Club. Translated to mean Four Peaks Mountain, this Scott Miller designed, par 72 course offers scenery that will inspire you to play the best golf of your life. It plays from a short 6,000 yards with a slope of 119 to a stomach crunching 7,225 yards and a slope of 136. Prices vary by date. Be sure to bring the camera along when you play your golf in Phoenix at We-Ko-Pa, this one is gorgeous!
Few golf courses in the country have slopes as high as Las Sendas's 149. Yes, 149 out of maximum 155 means that this course is going to seriously test every shot in your repertoire. It offers four tees boxes, but even the short red tees at only 5,100 yards has a slope of 128. Robert Trent Jones designed this to be a true test of your abilities and nerve under stress, but he also incorporated spectacular views to soothe you when all else fails (see the photo of the eighth hole above). As tough as it is, this is not for the person that isn't serious about playing golf at it's best. Test your skills at this course, and brag to your friends if you survive the test. There are many other wonderful courses in the Phoenix area, such as Troon North Golf Club and The Boulders Resort.
