Recently I bought MP-59 Irons after playing Ping i20 Irons for years. Love how these feel, you can tell exactly where you hit each shot on the face.
Mizuno golf clubs,a leader in golf technology and innovation, it announced the launch of the Grain Flow Forged Mizuno MP-59 irons with the next generation of their award winning forged Ti Muscle technology that maintains thickness behind impact, for blade like workability – combined with forgiveness normally found in a cavity design.
Combined with Mizuno's elaborate Grain Flow Forging process, 12 grams of pure Titanium material is forged into the muscle of the MP-59 to deliver a 5% larger Sweet Area compared to the MP-58 and makes up them provides a soft and consistent experience at impact, while the titanium forged into the head delivers even more of a solid feel. The special design of these irons allow for an eaiser launch and more forgiveness due to both a lower Center of Gravity (COG) and larger sweet spot area.
To date, only Mizuno's patented Grain Flow Forging process can deliver this technological advancement that produces these amazing gains in forgiveness, all within a compact, traditional head shape. The heads in the Mizuno MP-59 Ironsare forged from a single 1025E mild carbon steel billet for pure feel. Mizuno's forged Ti muscle maintains a reassuring thickness behind impact, for blade like workability combined with the forgiveness normally found in a cavity design. The thickness is provided by a lightweight Titanium insert, which is forged directly inside the clubhead for a one piece feel which is located more central to the clubhead for greater stability from off centre strikes. This increased stability allows for less offset to be used, improving the irons look at address.
Forgiveness from off centre strikes, but in a head that doesn't restrict you to just straight shots. With the centre of gravity so close to the face, better low-mid handicap golfers can still work your golf ball left and right. The clubs look superb at address with a thinner top line and a double Nickel mirror chrome plated, durable finish with soft underlay for a cosmetically enhanced finish for a superb iron set.
Compared to the previous Mizuno MP-58 Irons, the ball speed is a little faster and the feel is much better right through the set. Together with the Tour tested bevelled grind across the back of the sole, we feel they are much better looking too.If you are single figure or mid handicapper who prefers a blade looking iron then these are one of the best feeling and most forgiving irons of this style in the market, so check them out.
The lightweight characteristics of the pure titanium allows for the ideal amount of thickness behind the impact area to deliver consistent solid feel while simultaneously providing a dramatic increase in perimeter weighting for enhanced playability.
Overall,I am very impressed. Slightly thicker than the MP-69 blades, and provide the look and feel that will attract almost all golfers. Very solid-looking club at address, and the flight was high but controllable. Feel and sound of the club was better than previous Mizuno irons (which I also liked). Definitely a contender if you consistently strike the ball clean and are looking for a new set of irons.
