If your are in the market for a pure blade golf club, look no further. Mizuno MP-69 Irons are by far the best blades I've ever it.They are so pure when you catch it just right you know.
The 2011 Mizuno MP-69 is targeted at Tour Players and low handicap amateurs. The Mizuno MP-69 is a muscleback set, evolved from the Mizuno MP-68. The new Mizuno MP-69s feature a slightly more pronounced toe design that has not been seen in a Mizuno set since the MP-32s. Their new 4D muscle pad that locates weight strategically from 3 iron to PW, produces easier to hit long irons with a marginally higher trajectory. The shorter, scoring irons appear cleaner and more compact at address, with a raised centre of gravity for greater trajectory control.Impact sound tuned through Mizuno's Harmonic Impact Technology project and heads Grain Flow Forged at Mizuno's exclusive Hiroshima plant deliver an unmatched level of feedback.
They are modern take on classic blades, but with as much forgiveness as this style of iron will allow. The concave muscle back on the rear of the blade is a larger then you would expect, but it really adds forgiveness without losing any of the visual appeal or performance of a blade. Anything slightly off-centre still maintains the feel and flight of a centre hit, although you will know about it if you really mis-hit it. When it comes to classically good looking irons that have a throwback feel to them, few companies put out more than Mizuno. What used to be a choice of blade or cavity back has now grown into several categories of irons with each offering more and more every year.
One category that seems tailor made for Mizuno is the "game enhancement" category, or an iron that is normally smaller in overall profile, and is used to assist in shaping shots and offering maximum feedback with each strike of the ball. The iconic MP line of clubs that Mizuno puts out each year fall into this category and the Mizuno MP-59 Irons and MP-69 are no exception. The centre of gravity changes through the set to give a higher flight on the longer irons and this does make them a little more playable. As you go down to the short irons the feel and flight are excellent, although the progressively shorter heads start to get a little on the compact side by the time you get to the wedge.
The Mizuno MP-69 irons are designed with the same playing profile and offset as its predecessor, and the sole design evolved over time from Mizuno's favourite custom tour grinds, features an additional bevel to the trailing edge to allow a cleaner exit from the turf. Besides, MP-69 features a slightly thicker muscle in the back of the head that provide a penetrating and workable ball flight for complete shot control through the set and adds an element of forgiveness.
As ever with Mizuno blades the MP-69's a pleasure to play shorter shots around the green where the feel on chips and pitches really comes into its own. That said, these are a low single figure handicap player's iron and if you are one of those golfers you wants to play blades then the Mizuno MP 69s are the most playable set on the market.
In my opinion, this is a great set of iron to own. When you hit a great shot you will know it, "it's like a hot knife in butter". As a high handicapper I must say it make you understand why the guy who makes his living at this game is good. They are great clubs to own very clean at address easy to work the ball next to my Ping G25 Irons.
