Phuket Golf Courses Seven top class courses on one beautiful island

Situated just 1 hr 15 minutes by air south of Bangkok is Thailands largest island, Phuket. Well known for its choice of pristine beaches Phuket is also home to seven top class golf courses all within approximately 45 minutes of the main beach resorts.

Phuket Golf Courses are considered to be some of the best in Thailand and a popular choice for golfers from Asia and all around the world.

Probably the best known of the Phuket Golf Courses is the prestigious Blue Canyon Country Club which is situated just minutes from Phuket International Airport and has two championship courses, the Canyon Course and the Lakes Course.

On the north east coast of Phuket is the Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa. The course designed by the one and only Jack Nicklaus and opened in 2004. Although the layout is quite flat the course will challenge golfers of all levels and several holes have views of the Andaman Sea.

On the west coast of Phuket is Laguna Phuket Golf Club which hosted the Thailand Open in 2009. The full 18 hole course was completely renovated in 2014 and the new layout has received very good reviews since the grand re-opening in January 2015.

Further south are three of the most popular golf courses in Phuket due to their location to the main beach resorts of Patong, Karon and Kata.

Phuket Country Club is the oldest of all the Phuket Golf Courses and was established in 1989. Shorter in length than the modern day courses Phuket Country Club is the ideal place to start your golfing holiday.

The spectacular Red Mountain Golf Course was voted amongst the top three new courses in Asia in 2007 and has quickly become a "must play" course for golfers travelling to Phuket. The testing layout will penalize any shots straying off the fairways so take plenty of spare golf balls.

Situated next to Red Mountain Golf Club is the popular Loch Palm Golf Club. The course is lined by palm trees and the water comes into play on numerous holes. With light rough, generous fairways and a relaxed atmosphere, an enjoyable round is guaranteed.

Caddies are compulsory at all of the Phuket Golf Courses and their knowledge of the course can certainly save you a few strokes. Golf carts are optional at Blue Canyon - Canyon Course, Loch Palm and Laguna Phuket Golf Club, and compulsory at Blue Canyon - Lakes Course, Mission Hills Golf Resort and Red Mountain Golf Club. Phuket Country Club is a walking only course.
