Tips For Choosing The Right Golf Clubs
2016/7/23 14:37:09
With the game of golf firmly embedded into mainstream America, and recognized around the world as a popular sporting activity. Oh yeah, and don't forget the popularity of Tiger.
With this widespread exuberance for the game of golf, comes with it commercialization. If you have watched any golf on TV, or the golf channel you have seen commercials for different brand name golf equipment, namely golf clubs.
They claim their clubs will allow you to hit farther, straighter, and improve your overall game. Usually endorsed by one of the top Pro Tour players. This leads me to assisting you in choosing the correct weapons, or clubs for your game. When buying golf clubs, or any golf equipment or accessories, don't be misled by claims made in the company advertising.
Remember, just because the price is high doesn't make or guarantee the quality of the product. The first thing you need to do when buying golf clubs is to test them out.
Get a feel for the clubs, how does the grip feel in your hands, or the clubs too long or too short, do they fit your body profile, how is the weight. These are questions you must ask yourself when choosing the right golf clubs to suit your needs. Lastly, the major question I ask people is " Do you feel comfortable when swinging the clubs?"
Short List of Tips for Golf Club Selection
Ask friends or players how they like the clubs
Bring a player with some experience when the decision is made to purchase
Borrow clubs from friends or family to get a feel for that brand
Research the brand and model of the clubs you are considering purchasing
Is the company reputable, how long have they been around, who recommends these clubs
Investing in a new set of clubs doesn't need to be expensive. Remember, paying more does not mean your getting a better quality product, it just means your paying more. Cost shouldn't be the deciding factor when purchasing golf clubs. Some alternative solutions are buying a starter set first.
Most golf outlets have used clubs for sale at half the price of new. High end expensive clubs will not make you any better, you may realize improved performance in better made clubs, but it will not mean much to a beginner, or non-professional.
Spending a small fortune on golf clubs is not imperative, a decision based on research, comfortability, and value should lead the decision making process. In closing, make a prudent, educated decision, ask for help, and recommendations, and most of all enjoy your next round of golf.
A bit of personal advice for the beginning golfer, if you plan on golfing for enjoyment, like most golf nuts. I would recommend when making the purchase of new clubs to invest in some lessons. Not that you will not be able to learn on your own or from friends, but it will make the game much more enjoyable, and rewarding if you could play better each time you get out to play a round.
