Golf shaft is the metallic section of the golf club which connects between the head to the handle and basically constitutes the body of the entire golf club. Shaft will affect the impact of your swing and eventually your entire game. Usually there are a lot of things to consider before you pick up the art of selecting the shaft which suits you. But basically there are three points!
(1) Length
Believe it or not but the length of the wholesale golf clubs shafts can affect the impact of your swing. Since everybody's swing and height is uniquely different, the shaft selected should be tailored personally to you. A way how people assess their desired length is by considering the distance between their navel, all the way to the floor. And when you hold the club and lean forward in preparing for your stroke, the distance should make you feel comfortable and good. And if not, the length should definitely be changed. Test out various lengths as you go along.
(2) Material
Two popular substances used to create golf clubs are none other than graphite and steel, whatever they are, golf irons or golf drivers. The former is considered more professional since they're generally lighter and has higher torque ratings. That said, steel golf club shafts might work for you too. Since they're naturally heavier and more durable, some people prefer a more robust feel and steel golf clubs do provide that. They're also less expensive so for those who're on a budget, there's one more reason for you to consider steel golf shafts.
(3) Flex
Try bending a golf club with your bare hands and what you will probably notice is this : you don't really see the visible bending. But on the green, through swinging your club, you can almost get it to bend in a unimaginable amount. And if you realize it, that could in turn affect your game since the value of flex in your golf club shaft will in term impact your swing. Just like how the length does. What eventually will affect your flex' choice is the speed of your swing. Do you go all out and full force or is your swing much gentler? If you're a golfer with a fast swing, you will require a stiffer shaft. Don't worry if you are unsure of the flex value you need as golf club equipment shops will have such necessary information.
