Swinging your club around is not the only way to play golf. If you check out the pros during tournaments, you will see that they are employing the proper golf grip to get the best shots with every swing of their club. Want to give it a try? Here's a little guide to help you get it right the first time.

You have to keep in mind that all the power we produce or the accuracy of our shots will all depend on how we grip the club. Seasoned golfers or trainers will tell you that all the factors involved in achieving the perfect shot all depends on how you do the golf grip.

The first thing you need to keep in mind before learning about the proper golf grip is that each of us has our own version of it. That's right; even if you see that someone is gripping the club differently, it doesn抰 mean that it's wrong. There is a standard grip to golf, but we add our own variations to it for comfort and convenience.

There are two kinds of golf grips -- the interlocking grip and the overlap grip. You can use either one as long as you're comfortable with it. There is no standard rule that you have to use one for drive or to hit down on golf ball. It all boils down to what is most comfortable for you to utilize and get the best shot.

Also, another point you need to think about is the position of the club in your hand. Gripping it too tightly in the middle of your palm will only ruin your game -- you could lose a lot of power with your swing or you will lack the flexibility to get the right shot. Seasoned golfers practically hold the club with their fingers with enough force to hold it steady during each shot.

If you want to get the proper golf grip then the best way to go at it is to learn the basics and practice. That's right; even if you utilize the proper grip, you need to be comfortable with it -- and practice is the only for you to perfect the technique.
