It is common misconception that golfing communities are only really appropriate for professional or retired professional golfers. The reality is that anybody with a remote interest in the sport can benefit from owning a golf course condo. A surprising number of golf home residents do not actually play, as some communities are more like country clubs, and do not enforce obligatory membership of the golf course.
There a variety of reasons why purchasing a golf course home can make sense, regardless of your golfing handicap. The location of many golf courses in places of outstanding natural beauty, such as mountainous areas or ocean facing regions, make them great places to live. In fact many residents prefer to occupy their condos during the winter months when golfing may not be possible, just to enjoy the fantastic scenery and the leisurely pace of life on the course.
Residing in a golfing community represents a high quality of life for retirees, young couples, families and avid golfers alike. The level of amenities available for all can range from good restaurants and a swimming pool, to health spas and kids clubs. Some courses are really pushing the boat out to compete with the other three and a half thousand golf communities in the US, by providing winter skiing, full outdoor pursuits programs and university courses.
As with other gated communities, golf course living is seen as beneficial for reasons of security and privacy. Generally only residents and their invited guests are allowed into the complex, and identification is required on entry. This makes golf course living a safe way to bring up children, whilst allowing them access to a variety of activities and a close community of which to be a part.
Of course, buying a golf course condo can be a good investment whether or not you have an interest in golf. Choosing a condo on a popular course can ensure a decent monthly rental income, and a high level of appreciation on your property, particularly if you are able to buy in the pre-construction planning phase, when properties are at their cheapest.
Although golf course living will always be of primary interest to those who have a real passion for the sport, there are plenty of other benefits and activities that make purchasing a golf course home an attractive possibility for all ages, whatever their interests.
