Five Interesting Tidbits About Golf That May Improve Your Game

2016/7/19 16:22:57

Are you seeing the same decrease in your handicap that reflects your hard work and efforts? Do you consistently fall short on your drives or feel exhausted at the end of 18 holes? Do you carry the disappointment of a missed putt over into the next hole? Here's some good news - you don't need to go through these problems forever, as you can easily give your golf game a shot in the arm. Change your golf game for the better by focusing on the following five areas: flexibility, strength, endurance, nutrition, and mental toughness.

Flexibility

Have you ever rushed to the golf course, quickly stepped up to the tee and felt stiff when you swung your golf club? You can do stretching exercises before golfing to avoid stiffness, but this needs to be something to be done on a regular basis. Stretching regularly helps avoid stiffness. This allows you to increase and maintain your flexibility. It doesn't take long to do these stretching exercises - so start limbering up to improve your range and flexibility.

Improving Strength

Have you incorporated strength training into your exercise routine? A lot of golfers swing the club like they would hit a fastball for a homer - as hard as possible. There are several adverse side effects of doing this. Your muscles may not be physically prepared for the intense strain and you may become injured. But with strength training, you could swing harder and more naturally, avoiding injuries and improving your game.

Improving Endurance

Are you wanting to take a rest in the golf cart after just a few holes? If this is the case, then your endurance needs a boost. At first glance, golf may not appear to be a game in which aerobic fitness is necessary. But if you walk around the course most of the time, the distance covered may be close to five miles over all 18 holes. Add some cardiovascular exercises to your routine, no more than 45 minutes a day will be fine.

Nutrition Matters A Lot

As is the case with other sports, eating the right foods is important for your body to perform properly. It's a no-brainer - eating chips and Twinkies is no way to stay fit. What foods should you eat, in that case? Drink at least eight glasses of water a day, eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, and eat white rather than red meat with a lot of carbs.

Keep Your Mind On The Game With Mental Toughness

Do you get bothered at the second hole thinking about that botched drive on the first hole? You're effectively killing your golf game this way by letting one bad thing lead to another. Before swinging that golf ball, try thinking some positive thoughts instead. And that includes not being discouraged over goof-ups on the previous holes. Think of a good shot instead of fearing you might miss the next shot as well.

These are five things to take note of if you wish to see positive results in your game. It will take some time to make these activities a habit, but will be well worth the effort.
