Golf is quickly becoming one of the world's most popular sports, with a dedicated following from all around the globe, that reaches into many millions. And with a variety of major tournaments including the Masters, the Open and the US and UK PGA Championships all attracting huge TV audiences worldwide it certainly seems the sport is on the up. But it's not jut the spectators that are increasing in numbers, the amount of people participating in the sport is on the rise too, there are thousands of people in the UK alone taking to golf courses every weekend, whether it's for the social aspects of the sport or simply just to improve their technique and their handicap.
For anyone who plays golf regularly the potential pitfalls associated with the sport will be known all too well. Aside from the potential to become incredibly frustrated, and the patience required to fine tune those techniques, the sport can also often end up costing a significant amount of money. Accumulating the right equipment is something that can take years to do, as top-end clubs certainly do not come cheap. And in times of economic difficulty many people are being forced to reconsider their priorities, which in many cases means cutting back on spending on our leisure activities. Thankfully there are a number of ways in which you can save some money when you're playing.
Probably the most obvious way to do so is to eliminate the cost of buying top of the range equipment. By choosing to rent clubs and trolleys you can save a substantial amount of money, or you could even try looking for second-hand clubs. The internet is a great resource for finding these types of deals and in many cases the clubs will only have superficial damage at most. If it has been looked after then pre-owned golf equipment can often last a good few years. While it might not provide as high a standard of performance as the most bespoke equipment, the savings are hard to ignore.
Many people are also saving money on discounted green fees, which is best done by using vouchers which allow them to gain free or at least discounted entry to golf courses. In addition to this many social players are reaping the advantages of using a two-for-one voucher, getting either themselves or their mates onto the course for free. These vouchers can be bought online and make great presents, but uou should remember to check the expiry date and that the course you play at will accept them.
