Tournaments and Champions
The 2012 season ofn the PGA tour yielded many suprises, exciting moments and great plays. Some of the most inspirational scenes in the history of golf were watched as well as the surge of some modern day superstars.
- Hyundai Tournament of Champions, Steve Stricker
- In the season opening tournament we saw Stricker over come a neck injury that he suffered from in the 2011 season and win the season opener.
- Hawaii Sony Open, Johnson Wagner
- Wagner shot a final round 67 on the waialae course to beat Charles Howel III by 2 strokes in the $5.5million purse tournament
- The Humana Challenge, Mark Wilson
- Mark Wilson won the fantastic Humana challenge. The challenge has donated of $50million to the Eisenhower Medical Centre
- Farmers Insurance Open, Brandt Snedeker
- Snedeker started the round 7 off the lead but capitalized on the final hole tiple bogey of Kyle Stanley to win in a playoff
- Waste Management Pheonix Open, Kyle Stanley
- In a total turnaround from the previous week, Kyle Stanley took advantage of the collapse of fellow competitor Spencer Levin to win by 2 shots
- AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Phil Mickelson
- Mickelson played alongside Tiger Woods on Sunday and recovered a 6 shot deficit to shoot a final round 64 and take the title
- Northeren Trust Open, Bill Haas
- Haas sank a 45 foot putt to beat Keegan Bradley and Phil Mikelson in a 2 hole playoff
- WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, Hunter Mahan
- Hunter Mahan shut down Rory McIlroy's No 1 dream beating him 2 and 1
- Mayakoba Golf Classic, John Huh
- Pga tour rookie john Huh secured his first PGA tour win
- Honda Classic, rory McIlroy
- Rory McIlroy gained his No.1 spot taking the spot from Luke Donald
- WGC-Cadillac Championship, Justin Rose
- Rose survived a charge by McIlroy as well as a potential playoff putt missed by Bubba Watson
- Transitions Championship, Luke Donald
- It only took Luke Donald 2 weeks to retake his world No 1 spot from Rory McIlroy in a 4 man playoff
- Arnold Palmer Invitiational, Tiger Woods
- Woods won the Arnold Palmer for the seventh time to secure his first win in 30 months.
- Shell Houston Open, Hunter Mahan
- His win over Carl Petterson made him the highest ranked American in the world and the forst two time winner in the 2012 season
- Masters: Bubba Watson
- The second playoff hole against Louis Oosthuizen yielded one of the greatest golf shots in history. Watson hit a hard hook out of the trees within 10 feet of the pin to secure his green jacket.
- RBC Heritage, Carl Petterson
- Petterson started the final day with a one stroke lead and finished with a 5 shot lead
- Valero Texas Open, Ben Curtis
- Ben Curits cruised to a two shot win over Matt Every winning with a score of -9
- Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Jason Dufner
- Dufner won after defeating Ernie Els in a two hole playoff to secure a win a week before his wedding.
- Wells Fargo Championship, Rickie Fowler
- Fowler defeated Rory McIlroy and D.A Points in a playoff to find his first ever PGA tour win.
- The Players Championship, Matt Kuchar
- Kuchar charged through TPC sawgrass to hoist the trophy
- HP Byron NelsonChampionship, Jason Dufner
- His first week back after getting married Jason Dufner triumphs at the Byron Nelson
- Crowne Plaza Invitational, Zach johnson
- Johnson secured his win by only a single shot over Jason Dufner
- Memorial Tournament, Tiger Woods
- Woods captured a two stroke victory to earn the priveledge to pose with the founder Jack Nicklaus
- FedEx St. Jude Classic, Dustin Johnson
- Dustin Johnson narrowly beat John Merrick by a single shot to secure his title
- US Open, Webb Simpson
- Simpson won the 112th US open by a single shot over Graeme McDowell at the Olympic course
- Travelers Championship, Marc Leishman
- Leishman narrowly secured victory defeating Charley Hoffman and Bubba Watson by only a single shot
- AT&T National, Tiger Woods
- Woods coasted to a two shot victory over Bo Van Pelt at Congressional
- The Greenbrier Classic, Ted Potter Jr.
- Ted Potter Jr. faced off against Troy Kelly in a dramatic 3 hole playoff to narowly take the greenbrier classic
- John Deere Classic, Zach Johnson
- Johnson managed to take the win by sinking a birdie putt on the second sudden death playoff hole.
- True South Classic, Scott Stallings
- Stallings won the True South with an incredible low score -24 to beat Jason Bohn by two strokes
- British Open, Ernie Els
- Els narrowly won the british open after the collapse of Adam Scott who shot 5 over handing the victory away.
- RBC Canadian Open, Scott Piercy
- Piercy scraped out a victory north of the border over taking Robert Garrigus and William McGirt by a single shot
- Reno-Tahoe Open, J.J Henry
- the different scoring system set forth in the reno tahoe did not phase J.J Henry who managed to secure 43 points to defeat Alexandre Rocha by 1 point
- WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, Keegan Bradley
- Bradley managed to grab the Gary Player cup in his first PGA tour win of the year
- PGA Championship, rory McIlroy
- The windy conditions threw off every player besides McIlroy who used his Irish luck to win by a comfortable seven strokes
- Wyndham Championship, Sergio Garcia
- Garcia secured the Sam Snead cup taking the Wyndham Championship by two strokes over Tim Clark
- The Barclays, Nick Watney
- Watney sank a birdie putt on the 18th hole of the final round to take the playoff win.
- Deutsche Bank Championship, Rory McIlroy
- McIlroy won at TPC Boston to take his 3rd PGA win of the year
- BMW Championship, rory McIlroy
- McIlroy kept his momentum going for his second straight playoff win and his 4th PGA tour win of the 2012 season.
- Tour Championship, Brandt Snedeker
- Snedeker took the PGa tour playoffs winning both the tour championship trophy and the Fed Ex cup including a $10 million prize
- Justin timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, Ryan Moore
- Moore took the win by a single stroke over Brandon De Jonge
- Frys.com Open, Jonas Blixt
- Blixt wins the Frys.com open in the fall season to secure his tour card for the 2013 season
- The McGladrey Classic, Tommy Gainey
- Gainey won this event due to a remarkable eagle made from a bunkr on the 15th hole of the final round.
- Children Miracle Network Hospitals Classic, Charlie Beljan
- A stronger display of courage has never been seen on the golf course. The season ended with a desperate push from Charlie Beljan to win his first event and secure his tour card for the 2013 season. Beljans win rocketed him from 136th on the money list to 63.
That is the 2012 PGA season in a nutshell. Hopefully the 2013 season will be just as full with action and inspirational stories.
