While golfers don't immediately think of Philadelphia golf courses as a primary destination, many golfers live and work in the Philadelphia area. You can find everything from flat to hilly on Philadelphia courses, and water will play a part on many holes. We have reviewed a few public Philadelphia courses for you to try for yourself.

Featured Philadelphia Golf Courses

Our first featured Philadelphia golf course is The Franklin D. Roosevelt Golf Course. This par 69 course is hilly and offers a slope of 113 from the white tees. The greens are medium in size and speed, and you can pick up some strokes on the wide front nine fairways. The back nine gets tighter so be careful. Priced at around $20 for all day, this is a bargain.

Another inexpensive day of Philadelphia golf can be found at the John F. Byrne Golf Course. Priced at under $20, this par 67 course will make better golfers see great scores. The fairways are tight and water will come into play on many holes so there actually is a challenge here, but with a slope of 107 one could call this an easy play Philadelphia golf course.

The more challenging Cobb's Creek Golf Club is one of the better Philadelphia golf courses for the general public. This par 71 course features a slope of 120. Designed by Hugh Wilson, this course is mostly flat but featured water on eight holes per side. Priced at around $50, this Philadelphia course attracts the better daily fee golfers in the area.
