Some Famous Golf Courses

Golf is definitely one of the most popular sports these days. This is largely because it can be played by anybody from any age group. A number of factors affect each game. The weather for instance has a say on how one gets to perform with each swig of the club. There is also the varied levels of difficulty offered by each golf course, which makes some courses challenging to play in while others end up being pretty bland. For those who enjoy the sport, there is probably no better way to spend some rest and relaxation time than doing so in any of the famous golf courses locally and abroad.

Here are four of the popular golf courses one can consider going to.

1. Sunnydale - Set right on the sand belt of Surrey in England, the beautiful course that became a golf course in the 20th century. The entire course was originally made up of three farms owned by St. John's College. It had hosted the British Masters four times within the last 60 years.

2. Wentworth - The famous Wentworth golf course started out with 7,000 yards and has evolved to become three 18 hole golf courses. It was developed by Walter George Tarrant after World War I in an effort to encourage peaceful activities in England. Presently, it is where the PGA European tour is headquartered.

3. St. Andrews - Another one on the list of famous golf courses is the oldest golf course in the world. St. Andrews Old Course offers ample training ground for new players as well as a magnificent place for serious golfers to enjoy a game or two.

4. Valle del Este and Desert Springs - Farther down south are Spain's Valle del Este and Desert Springs, which are the most famous ones in the country and are popular on the global golfing scene as well.

The famous golf courses mentioned are not the only ones famous among golfers though. For someone who has been learning the sport and wishes to expand the horizons a bit more, it helps to scout for other local courses that other golfers prefer to play in as well.
