The biggest change is the increased camber on the sole of the club to help it go through the turf more easily and this is certainly does. The short irons in particular were very good, but you could feel the benefits right through the set. MB irons are high performance, tour-proven forged blade irons that offer maximum shot control with improved address profiles and enhanced feel through the turf for the highly skilled golfer.
MB is a classic muscle back forged iron, delivering great feel from muscle back weighting positioned behind the sweet spot. The styling is classic and clean giving a no-nonsense impression and is similar to its sister model, the Titleist CB 714 iron. The specifications for loft and lie are also the same so this makes it very easy to blend the two sets together if you want a little more forgiveness in the longer irons.
One of the few manufacturers to still make quality blades, but unless you are a scratch player I would stick to the 714 CB or Titleist AP2 714 Irons.
This Iron Set provides a classic, solid feel along with maximum shot control from the compact head shape and muscle back weighting. A traditional, constant blade length with minimal progressive offset offers just the right balance of workability and distance control. The narrow sole includes smooth width progression thru the set, while the compact short irons feature a traditional profile. A slightly straighter leading edge and blended hosel, for less visual offset, improves address appeal for more confident ball-striking.
Forged from 1025 carbon steel, the new Titleist MB 714 irons feature tour-preferred constant blade lengths with minimal progressive offset for maximum workability. Compact shapes with precise center of gravity locations and traditional tour lofts deliver the proven flight, feel and shot-making confidence that have made MB the choice of many of the worldA's best players.
All in all, this set is the most game-enhancing iron that Titleist makes, but it's far from the most forgiving. It's for golfers who demand an iron that will let them carve around greenside bunkers, under strong winds and over distant trees. If you are a seasoned, better player who demands feel and precision then you'll like these irons. But Titleist acknowledges that they are not for everyone. When it comes to the new 714 MB muscle back irons, they add "performance is not an issue, but your skill level might be."
