1. Start with the standing end of the rope. This is the end of the rope that is not attached to anything.
2. Pass the standing end through the sheave of the upper block. The sheave is the wheel inside of the block.
3. Bring the standing end down and around the outside of the upper block.
4. Pass the standing end back up through the sheave of the lower block.
5. Bring the standing end down and around the outside of the lower block.
6. Bring the standing end to the opposite side of the blocks and pass it back up through the sheave of the upper block.
7. Pull on the standing end of the rope to tension the system.
To use the blocks, simply attach the load to the hook of the lower block and pull on the standing end of the rope. The load will be raised as you pull on the rope.
