What is ultruism?

Ultruism is the belief that one should act to maximize the net sum of well-being for all sentient beings. This includes both humans and non-human animals. Ultruists believe that the best way to achieve this goal is to base one's actions on the principle of equal consideration for the interests of all sentient beings, regardless of their species, race, gender, or any other factor.

There are many different ways to practice ultruism. Some people choose to donate their time or money to charities that help others. Others choose to live a more sustainable lifestyle in order to reduce their negative impact on the environment. Still others choose to engage in political activism to fight for social justice and environmental protection.

Ultruism is not the same as altruism. Altruism is the belief that one should act selflessly, without regard for personal benefit. While altruism and ultruism both prioritize the well-being of others, ultruism takes into account the relative well-being of all individuals and seeks to maximize the total amount of well-being in the world.

Ultruism is a challenging moral philosophy to follow, but it is a powerful tool for making a positive impact on the world. By acting with compassion and consideration for all, we can create a better future for both humans and non-human animals.
