Can an atlatl go through metal?

An atlatl is a spear-throwing device that was used by ancient peoples. It consists of a long, slender shaft with a cup-shaped depression at one end. A spear is placed in the cup and held in place with a finger. The atlatl is then swung over the head and released, imparting a great deal of force to the spear.

While an atlatl can deliver a powerful blow, it is unlikely to be able to penetrate metal. Metal is a very hard and strong material, and it would be difficult for an atlatl to generate enough force to pierce it. Additionally, the spear used with an atlatl is typically made of wood or bone, which are not as strong as metal.

There have been some cases where atlatls have been used to penetrate metal, but these are rare and usually involve very thin sheets of metal. In general, an atlatl is not a weapon that is effective against metal.
