1. Remove the bar-end plugs. Use a 2mm hex wrench to loosen the screws that hold the bar-end plugs in place, and then pull the plugs out.
2. Loosen the brake lever clamps. Use a 5mm hex wrench to loosen the two bolts that hold each brake lever clamp in place. Do not remove the bolts completely.
3. Slide the brake levers off the handlebars. Gently slide the brake levers off the handlebars, taking care not to damage the cables.
4. Disconnect the brake cables. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the cable stop on each brake lever, and then pull the cables out.
5. Loosen the barrel adjusters. Use a flat-head screwdriver to turn the barrel adjusters on each brake lever counterclockwise until they are fully closed.
6. Remove the brake levers. Completely remove the two bolts that hold each brake lever clamp in place, and then lift the brake levers off the handlebars.
Here are some additional tips for removing drop-handlebar brake levers:
* If the brake levers are difficult to slide off the handlebars, you may need to use a hair dryer to heat up the rubber grips.
* Be careful not to damage the cables when you are disconnecting them from the brake levers.
* If you are reinstalling the brake levers, be sure to tighten the bolts firmly in place.
