How do you tend and prevent cuts when fishing?

Here are some tips to help you prevent and treat cuts when fishing:

1. Use sharp hooks and line. Dull hooks can slip off when you're trying to set them, leading to cuts. Sharp line can also cut your skin if you're not careful.

2. Be careful when handling your rod and reel. The reel can be sharp and can cause cuts if you're not careful when setting it down or reeling in fish.

3. Wear gloves. This is especially important if you're fishing in cold weather or with sharp line.

4. Keep your hands away from moving parts. The propeller on your trolling motor or outboard engine can cause serious injury if you come in contact with it.

5. Keep first aid supplies handy. This includes bandages, disinfectant, and pain relievers.

6. If you do get a cut, clean it thoroughly and apply a bandage. If the cut is deep, you may need to seek medical attention.

7. Be careful with the fish you catch. Some fish, such as catfish, have sharp fins and teeth that can cut you. Be sure to handle fish with care, especially when you're unhooking them.
