Carp are particular about the depth of water they will frequent so adjust the length of the zig rig’s trace until you find the fish.
Try to keep your trace and hook size as fine as possible and keep the hair length short.
Obviously you need a buoyant bait and pop-ups fit the bill. Alternatively try floating pellets or even flavoured foam.
This particular zig rig features a rubber bloodworm on the shank of the hook to disguise it.
For the components use a size 10 hook, 8 lb monofilament hook link, a semi-fixed or free running lead clip, a tail rubber, 2 to 3 oz lead and 10 lb main line.
