String A Fishing Rod
String is an important part of fishing tool, and it will save you a lot of lost time when you know how to properly string your fly fishing rod before you head down to the river. With these few steps you can be sure you'll have a piece of properly working gear with a minimum of fuss.
Step 1
Make sure your reel is clear of any small debris that might obstruct its natural unwinding. Small granules of sand and dirt can significantly increase your chances of the line becoming ensnared.
Step 2
Fit the reel to the base of your fly fishing rod, making sure the brackets are firmly in place. The reel must be completely fastened before you begin to string the rod.
Step 3
Remove three arm lengths of line past the leader so that you'll have ample line to string the fly fishing rod. Remember to not count the leader as part of this length.
Step 4
Double the fishing line over before you begin passing it through the guides of the rod. As you string the rod, keep your free index finger along the top of the rod to provide a firm grip.
Step 5
Pass the doubled line through the last guide and gently draw the remaining line and leader through. At this point you have been able to string the rod and are ready to attach your fly.
After all of these steps, choose the appropriate attire. Then, you can go fishing. I believe you will find the tool is very comfortable.
