Sleeper sharks prey upon various bottom-dwelling organisms on sandy and muddy seafloors. Small prey include bony fishes, rays, skates, cephalopods (squid, octopus) and crustaceans (crabs, shrimps and mantis shrimps). Larger sleeper sharks have also been known to occasionally take seabirds.
