POMPANO are fun to catch. Weather you are fishing the surf or off a pier. The best live bait is live Sand FLEA (Sand Crabs) or Fiddler Crabs. You can also try using dead shrimp, and cut squid as well. But the best way I fish for PAMPANO is using artificial jigs, such as Silly Willy's or Capt. Joe rigs. This jig is a Capt. Joe rig size 3/8oz with white and pink with a pink fly. I have also had luck with other colors in the past which I had the best of luck with as well. I have been trying several jigs, So i'm letting you know what works best in my area. NOTE: If you want to know more about Silly Willy's and Capt. Joe rigs, go to one of my blogs which is called Silly Willy/Capt. Joe rigs. It will show you other jigs that I have used in the past, to catch these fish, including catching jack as well. The leader line I use is anywhere from 25lb to 30lb test SEAGUARE 100% FLUOROCARBON leader line, which is invisible in the water, with about 3 feet in lenght of it. So, the best kind of knot to make to the jig is called the clinch knot, which works best for me. Other people use different knots which is fine. NOTE: Scroll down to the next page to see how to tie the clinch knot. The presentation using these jigs is at a slow speed. So if you want to catch PAMPANO, try this method as well. SO GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY FISHING.
