How do you clean trout?

Step 1: Scale the trout

* Hold the trout with its belly facing towards you.

* Starting at the tail, use a fish scaler to scrape off the scales, working your way up towards the head.

* Be sure to go against the grain of the scales.

Step 2: Gut the trout

* With a sharp knife, make a small incision under the chin of the trout.

* Be careful not to cut too deeply, as you don't want to damage the intestines.

* Once you've made the incision, insert your fingers and gently pull out the guts.

* Be sure to remove all of the guts, including the liver and kidneys.

Step 3: Rinse the trout

* Rinse the inside and outside of the trout with cold water.

* Be sure to remove any remaining bits of guts or blood.

Step 4: Pat the trout dry

* Pat the trout dry with paper towels.

* This will help to prevent the trout from sticking to the grill or pan when you cook it.

Step 5: Season the trout

* Season the trout with salt, pepper, and any other desired spices.

Step 6: Cook the trout

* Trout can be cooked in a variety of ways, such as grilling, baking, or pan-frying.

* Consult a cookbook or online recipe for instructions on how to cook trout.

Enjoy your freshly cleaned and cooked trout!
