What is the best fishing bait to use for king fish?

Live or fresh dead baits generally outfish anything for these fish. Good fresh baits include mullet, sardines, anchovies, pilchards, cigar minnows, squid and strip baits of larger fish like Spanish mackerel. Good quality frozen baits can also work well, particularly striped ballyhoo.

Kingfish will hit lures including trolled spoons and diving lures. Kingfish that frequent jetties and channels can also be caught using live bait suspended under floats or jigged up and down by hand.
