B.C. Fishing Events and Reports for November

Events

November 19th ? Used Fishing Tackle Sale The Fraser Valley Salmon Society is hosting a used fishing tackle sale in Chilliwack between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. this coming Saturday.  The event will be hosted at Carman United Church (7258 Vedder Road).  There will be many experienced anglers selling off their gear, so if there was ever a place to get a bargain on salmon/trout/steelhead/sturgeon gear, this is it.  Anyone interested in getting rid of some tackle can purchase a table at the event for $25 or $15 if you are a member of the FVSS.  Email [email protected].

November 28th ? Sidney Anglers Smoked Salmon Night The Sidney Anglers fishing club out of Sidney, B.C. are holding their annual Smoked Salmon night where club members bring delicious seafood and draw prizes are held for a variety of fishing gear.  The event is open to members, so anyone from the area who is interested in joining can contact the website if they are interested in membership at [email protected].   The Sidney Anglers also host several salmon fishing derbies per year including a variety of other events, check out the website at www.sidneyanglers.com.

Fishing Reports

Lakes are just beginning to ice up in the Okanagan Valley and Kootenay region.  Trolling for rainbow trout in Okanagan, Arrow, and Shuswap Lakes is picking up steadily and we have reports of a 19 pound Gerrard coming from Arrow in the past week.  Kootenay has also been fishing well, check the link below for more details on this trophy rainbow fishery.

Bass fishing in the South Okanagan is steadily declining after some hot fall action.  Anyone brave enough to get out there and try for some end-of-season smallmouth can try jigging vertical dropoffs or slowly dragging a tube or jig along deep rocky flats.

With temperatures dipping below freezing for the long term forecast, ice fishing may not be too far away.
